True Magic is born in our dreams and
visions. Its powers of transformation first take root in the hidden realm of
Morpheus, shape-shifter of the night. Morpheus, the Greek God of Dreams,
has a rich heritage and mythology. Ancients poets wrote often of Morpheus and
his powers. He was the most favored son of the God of Sleep Hypnos.
Morpheus is "the former" who can take the shape and appearance of any
human. He brings vivid dreams and plays a role within them. Magic
of the highest order was the realm of Morpheus. Together with his brothers,
Phobetor, and Phantasos - Morpheus rules the realm of dreams, but it is Morpheus who is
the transformer and bringer of Magic and Visions. Ancients would consult their horoscope
or an astrologer to help interpret the colorful visions and spirit of Morpheus.
Magic Wands are also about dreams and transformation. When holding a Wand you
intend to use for magical work think of Morpheus. You too have within you the power
to manifest visions and shift reality. Patience and practice will be needed,
but the powers of Morpheus to transform can be mastered.
Vision becomes clear with confidence and
practice. They are the foundation of magical spells. The power you feel when holding a
particular Wand is amplified by the infusion of your own vision and psychic
energy. Many people use several different Wands for different types of energy
and rituals. Some, use the same Wand for all their magical work.
Whichever is your preferred way of working, call on the energies of Morpheus to aid you in
transforming and shifting realities.
Before you begin working with a new Wand, it is customary to dedicate it to the Goddess,
or God whose energies you will want to be working with. If you do not work with a specific
God/dess, a more general dedication is usually done. In either case, the night before
dedicating your Wand, before going to sleep, try this. Focus on the spirit of Morpheus and
see him filling your dreams with visions and insights pertaining to your future magical
workings. This will enhance the energy you bring to the dedication of your Wand in a very
special way.
